Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABC's NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a household worker. Her upbringing was in a family that included four brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. But in highschool the time came when she began modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. In her teens her first appearance as an actress was in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Delaney is an acclaimed actor who has appeared involved in numerous television dramas, and TV films. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional one has nt been successful and happy. The gifted actress was struggling to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages fail. Her custody was taken away from her son in 2005.
